5 Key Steps To Win At Life

Life is a game. Some people win, some people lose, others barely attempt to play. Nonetheless, it is a game that all can play. For someone to win this “Game Of Life”, they have to have certain qualities. In my opinion, these qualities can be things that you are born with, or qualities you fake/pretend to have. You then, by feigning these things, come to actually become accustomed to them and unconsciously, they will become a part of you. These are my 5 things to do to win at life.

This, to me, is the single most important thing that you can do for yourself. Confidence can also be feigned. I know that first hand. I remember while I was in 6th and 7th grade, I went to a school in Michigan. The kids there were my friends and we had grown up together. I was a pretty shy kid and I kept to myself. Being shy had become part of my identity for the shyness started when I first met the people when I was in 2nd grade. I was not from the US and couldn’t speak english very well. Then, the summer after 7th grade, I moved to Florida because my dad got a better job there. I realized that I could reinvent my self and become confident with who I was. It turned out pretty great.

For example, when a company or someone is looking for an employee, who is going to be communicating and interacting with people outside of the company, they do not want someone that is unsure of themselves. They want someone who is confident, can talk to someone and hold their gaze with out shying away. They want someone who is confident.

2) Never Stop Learning

I hear this a lot everywhere and it is absolutely true. Even if you are the CEO of a big company, or if you have a high ranking position in an organization, there is always something you can learn. You could learn how to build a table at home, or how to code. If you learn these things and successfully complete a project, then a great deal of pleasure and sense of self-accomplishment will be handed to you.

I once read in a magazine that if you are the smartest person in a room anywhere (not including if you are a teacher or a professor), then you are in the wrong room.

3) Learn How To Cook

This is something that can will mainly help you in your social life and sometimes in your job. I know that not everyone is a great cook, but you don’t have to be a great cook (and anyone can follow a recipe online). It’s always impressive to have a party with friends, and be able to say that you cooked all the food. My dad always tells me that if you ever are going to dinner with your boss or an employee that you think highly of, invite them home and cook for them.  He says it is highly impressive to be able to cook a nice dinner for your boss.

This will also help in personal relationships. It doesn’t matter if your are a man or a woman, but if you can cook for a date, it will look nice and it is also a great conversation starter.

4) Try New Things

A new experience is always great to me and if I see anything that I want to do, then I try to see any way I can to do it. For example, I was watching the Discovery channel on TV and the episode was about marine life and people deep sea diving to get a look at it. I saw that and immediately decided that I wanted to do it. I knew that I was not certified, but knew that my cousin was, so in during spring break of my 8th grade year, my family and I went on vacation to the Bahamas with my cousin. I got to scuba dive and had a great time and made great memories.

On my bucket list for the moment is to go skydiving, but I can’t do that until I’m 18 so….

5) Make Good Friends

Make a variety of different friends, but these friends should be intellectuals and you should be able to discuss intellectual ideas and topics with them. Of course, make friends that are funny because everyone needs laughter in their lives. Most importantly, “break off” from the friends that are a bad influence on you and do not contribute to your life in a good way.
